The Surf Sister Blog
A Photographic Gratitude Experiment
Additional Info

Have you heard that being grateful can make you happier? I certainly have. Everyone from Deepak Chopra and Oprah to researchers at the University of California are claiming that gratitude can change your life.
These researchers found that gratitude resulted, not only in increased happiness, but also in a stronger immune system, better sleep, lower blood pressure and feeling more forgiving, outgoing, generous, compassionate, alert and alive. Not a bad for a small shift in focus.
Want to find out if it works for you?
Join me (and loads of others from all over the world) in a photographic gratitude experiment this November. What ever your camera of choice (I'll be setting aside my DSLR for the month and picking up my iPhone), come November, fire it up and start photographing the things that make you the most grateful. There's a capturing gratitude facebook group to share your photos, and a gratitude list, to share your blog or website if you're posting your photos elsewhere.
I hope you'll join me.
You can read about my personal journey with gratitude here.

Surfing Possibility: India and Bangladesh's First Surfer Girls
Additional Info

My name is Farhana Huq and I am a surfer here in the San Francisco Bay Area. I wanted to write to you about a really cool project I just launched through Brown Girl Surf.
This November and December, on behalf of Brown Girl Surf, I will be traveling to India and Bangladesh, my parent’s birth countries, to meet women and girls who have taken huge risks against big societal barriers to do the very thing we love to do – surf! I will be working with Storytellers for Good to produce a series of short documentary profiles, photographs and writings on the lives of the first female surfers in a country like Bangladesh, one of the poorest nations in the world.
I put together this Indiegogo campaign together with my friend Cara, from Storytellers for Good. It’s a short video about the project that I hope you’ll watch. I wanted to ask if you could help spread the word about this project by doing a post on it and/or spreading the word through social media. Here is the Indiegogo link with the full campaign and video:
