After just spending a week of SSW winter swells in Fiji, I am confined that it is definitely an alternate to the rat race of Bali. Since the Decree in 2010 (allowing everybody the right to surf the world class waves of Cloudbreak and Restaurants), Fiji is now on the map for a cheap surfing destination. It now allows surfers to by pass the expensive islands of Tavarua and Namotu and stay on the mainland in cheap style accommodation with daily boat rides out too these world class waves. Surrounding breaks including Wilkes” Pass, Tavarua Rights, and Namotu Lefts.

Byron Bay has a film festival which this year the organizers put a massive screen on the main beach park area and showed films under the full moon. One of the short films previewed was about this bubbly water woman that loves to travel and has done her whole life (thanks to her parents). Alison Teal is the daughter of David Blehert, a world-renowned adventure photographer for companies such as National Geographic Magazine, Patagonia, Eagle Creek, and Teva.

I wrote a little piece about Byron Bay, after my visit. I just wanted to express how Byron made an effect on me! I also attached a few pictures... I got the chance to take at Main Beach in Byron and The Pass before the rain would settle back in.
