Meyerhoffer 'Horse Pill'
Walden 'Magic Modle'
The great thing about getting a new surfboard shaped is that most of the time your 'board guru' is happy for you to personalize the blank before the glass goes on. Whether you physically splash some paint around or use printed inlays, the surfboard becomes an extension of self. Dila Tawn Pretty Fish is creating some fun designs that we at SurfSister wanted to share with you.
Chick Sticks is a company located in Oceanside, Ca in America that builds Surfboards for Girls. Lola Blake is the water women behind Chick Sticks and has her factory making surfboards that are shorter, wider, easier to ride Surfboards designed especially for Girls. The Chick Sticks factory does everything 'in house' to keep the Quality Exceptional. Lola has some nifty differences such as pink stringers, pink glue line with multiple fin set ups to make every shape as versatile as possible.
Surfing teaches us to be in the moment and live spontaneously. The ocean not only educates us. It brings us together. Without it, no one would have been at the Quality vs. Quantity debate. I arrived not knowing much about imported boards, where they are from, who makes them, or why shapers choose to manufacture overseas.
Hellishly windy today with no surf and I am feeling creative, I ventured into my stash of fabrics put aside for recycling into new funky gear. After rummaging through I have some brown corduroy, a red velvet cushion cover, a pair of old jeans and some floral fabric that I picked up at the local op-shop. Just what a girl needs for a stylely new retro inspired cloth board cover!
